Innovation - The PhenoTest investigates germination

Hyperspectral scanner

Only healthy plants produce high yields with excellent quality. However, the human eye only sees disease relatively late, when the symptoms are already very apparent. To detect diseases on the plants early on, we have developed a method for accurate diagnosis of plant disease in collaboration with the Magdeburg Fraunhofer Institute.

The measurements are based on the fact that biochemical processes in infected plants differ from those in healthy plants. By means of hyperspectral techniques, we can visualise these differences. The simple hand-held scanner is equipped with an innovative measuring principle and algorithms. It is controlled by a smartphone app. In only seconds, the user can see whether a plant is healthy or infected.
