SIP Delegates from UK visited Söllingen and Schlanstedt

We were delighted to welcome the 14 participants of the 2023/24 Sugar Industry Programme (SIP) at Söllingen and Schlanstedt on the 18th of January. The group comprised 8 farmers, 3 British Sugar Managers, 1 Germains team leader and 1 BBRO scientist. The SIP lead was Sam Williamson, NFU Sugar.

The group arrived on Wednesday evening for dinner and reception hosted by Pauline Deswarte, Eric Verjux, Hervé Caroff, Maxime Petrovski, Michael Stange and Richard Cogman.

On Thursday morning the group visited Söllingen to learn more about the company, our brand, breeding programme focus for the UK market with tolerance priorities; as well as touring production facilities to see commercial seed preparation and quality assurance lead by Hervé, Pauline, Julian Ludyga and Andreas Böning.

In the afternoon the group travelled to Schlanstedt where Michael, Gabi Ronquillo and Andreas Müller shared more detailed breeding insight, our glasshouse facilities and programmes and our biotechnological capabilities.

It was a day packed with information, expertly communicated in English by all!

Both days were highly interactive with many excellent questions and active discussion with our visitors. Feedback from all on their 'Strube experience' has been exemplary. Our commitment to yield and quality, in conjunction with technical competencies and a clear vision and strategy were widely commented on.

Thanks to all for for the preparation and successful delivery of this event.

Special thanks to Hanna for her housekeeping and transport arrangements. It could not have gone any better!
